The heading ‘REALISTIC STEPS TOWARDS A HEALTHIER AND MORE ENERGETIC LIFESTYLE’ , just doesn’t appeal so much, because it lacks the excitement of now, the promise of immediate gratification – that you’re on a new diet and/or exercise routine, that the answer has now been discovered, packaged and marketed for our benefit.

REVEALED: The key to lasting results is consistent effort over time – with some discipline in diet and focus on exercise.

While results can sometimes come quickly, if you focus on achievable steps to improve your diet and physical activity levels, the transformation will come, and much more importantly, the behaviours and mindset that got you there will be formed as habit.

FOCUS ON WHAT YOU HAVE TO GAIN

Focus on feeling better – on increased energy levels, better movement, sounder sleep, more motivation, brighter mood. Move towards the vision of yourself as you want to be. Developing a positive mindset in relation to nutrition and exercise can also take longer than most would like it to. Start by reaffirming each day that you have made a commitment to ‘better health / happiness / total wellbeing / becoming fit / peace of mind / getting into those jeans … ,’ or whatever is most important to you.

NOTICE THE NEGATIVES YOU TELL YOURSELF

Try not to get tangled in negative storylines you may have about yourself or your body. Notice when you tell yourself, ‘I can’t…, I don’t…, I’m not good at…’ and replace it with ‘I could…., I will…, I can… .’ No, it won’t change everything first time round, but positive self-talk builds belief over time, enabling you to gain confidence with every new step or action you take.
